about

Join Salmon (a Wunderman Commerce company), a leading global digital agency, as they host their very first Front End meet-up in London

If you are interested in anything Front End related please join us for an evening of food, drinks and tech talk, you might even learn something new along the way.

We will have speakers from the FED community along with our very own team discussing a variety of topics. There will also be a small 'Dev Battle' (fun coding mini-game) for those keen to get messy!

After the presentations we will mingle and head to the local pub!

Speakers

Sarah Parker (Host):
Leading over 40 Front End developers. Highly experienced in managing teams across eCommerce projects spanning retail, fashion and automotive industries, with key skills in guiding career progression and expanding technical capabilities.

Callum Macrae:
A JavaScript developer and occasional musician based in London, UK, working at SamKnows to make the internet faster for everyone. His current favourite things to work with are Vue, and SVGs (but only sometimes at the same time). He regularly contributes to open source projects. He is the author of 'Vue.js: Up and Running', a book about getting started with Vue.js.

Yousef Cisco:
A lover of all things design and tech, Yousef combines his passions in frontend web development. He started his career at Ampersand working on large scale websites such as Harvey's Furniture, Web Blinds and Poundland. Since then he's moved on to lead the front-end development team at Harvey Nichols where they're creating a bespoke headless front-end using the latest tech.

Kevin Johne:
Kevin has over 8 year's of experience in the tech industry.
Starting his career in Cologne in a Design Agency and now leading a team at Salmon in eCommerce. Kevin is a Front-End Developer and part of a team which takes care of the UI for a luxury fashion brand.

Data Visualisation in Vue.js
Vue.js is the latest big front-end framework. It's blazingly fast, easy to learn, and a valuable tool to have in your arsenal. Did you know you can work with SVGs directly in your Vue.js templates? This talk will explain the basics of Vue, explore some of the things you can do with SVGs, and show you how you can visualise some simple data without using a library like d3 or Highcharts.

7:20 PM

Yousef Cisco

A Very eComm Problem
With online sales growing at breakneck speed, companies have to keep up with the tech to be able to outpace their competition. Changing your front end stack in one fell swoop just won’t deliver the value the business needs in time and will put an immense pressure to deliver on your team. This talk will explore ways you can migrate your front end stack while avoiding common pitfalls of the latest front end libraries and delivering the features the business needs in time.
